  I wish there was a "no star" rating to give him! DO NOT ever allow a loved one to be under Dr. Burton's "care." My 95-year-old mother-in-law broke her leg, and he was her assigned surgeon at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo. While all of the staff clearly wanted to do their best for her, proper pain management and needed treatment could not proceed without his participation. The day after her injury, while she was in tremendous pain and terribly stressed over why nothing was being done about her fracture, he wandered into her room two hours later than expected. He totally ignored her son who was there, in part to help her understand what was going on - she is very hard of hearing. He ordered more X-Rays and a CT scan, which was done late that afternoon. The next day, mid-afternoon, he appeared, rude as before, and announced that he was referring her to a surgeon at UC Medical Center in San Francisco. Effective and appropriate pain management was not provided until after she was at UC Med. - three days after her fall. We have never encountered such an arrogant, lazy doctor, who clearly cares much more about his own convenience and bank accounts than his patient's well-being.

  Dr Burton is dismissive. He handled my mother's incision roughly upon introducing her to the wound vacc. He wiped a very sore, tender, swollen area of the incision with dry gauze. My mother had to tell him to lighten up and back off. Initially, Dr Burton recommended this knee replacement surgery for my mother. When I questioned him as to why he felt the surgery was the best option, he got high and mighty. He said he's been a doctor for over 20 years and he knows what he's talking about. It waa obvious that he didn't feel he owed it to me, her daughter to explain why. He was rude and raised his voice as if to be appalled at my gesture. He told me i was wasting his time, and that I needed to make an appointment with him to discuss things that have nothing to do with the current appt we were there for. When i saw him at the next appt, he still tried to avoid addressing my quesrion. He finally changed his approach and told me why he made the recommendation. Now it's been 3 months since the surgery, and she still hasn't healed. He's gave her a wound vac because he incision got infected; has taken her off of it because it didn't fix the infection, and she has only gotten worse. Seems like he's experimenting on my mother and being very nonchalant about things, when a failed recovery could cost my mom her leg or her life for that matter. She's been back to ER what seems like 10 times. They're having her heal at home, she has a nurses that monitor her from home 3 days a week, but she keeps having to go to ER. ER determined upon her last visit to ER that the nurses are negligent. They put new bandages on top of old soaked ones th at her leg is wrapped in. They had to unravel the bandage for a long time before they could get to it to check it out. She is scared for her life. Don't get work from this doctor.
